The following steps demonstrate how to use a Sample Data CSV file in order to provide web-content for a custom Pollstar100 Application:
| · | if you have not already done so, replace the pollstar100/example1/example1.html document on your webserver with an uploaded copy of the ../pollstar100/example1/example1.html document you amended in the previous tutorial.
| · | load the uploaded example page into your browser from your website. For example:
| If this pages fails to load then check the following and try again:
| · | That webpage exists where you think it does on your webserver
| · | That the pollstar100/ installation directory hierarchy has been preserved.
| · | If your webserver is case-sensitive, check you have used the correct case in your URL.
| · | That the Pollstar100 Client and the Pollstar100 Service exist in the pollstar100/ directory on your webserver.
| · | The Pollstar100 Client and the Pollstar100 Service file permissions.
| · | The pollstar100/example1/example1.csv file permissions (this files requires read/write permissions)
| · | You are online
| · | Your firewall
| · | Use a UTF-8 text editor such as Notepad to open the local copy of the pollstar100/example1/example1.csv file residing locally on this machine under the pollstar100/ installation directory.
| · | This file should contain 14 records. Each record corresponds to a separate data item appearing in the panels in the Pollstar100 UI. The first two fields of each record are written to by the Pollstar100 Service and track the number of votes and hits respectively, for each Sample Data item in the set. Amend this file by resetting the values of the first two fields to zero for each record in the set. (Be careful not to delete the comma separators!)
| · | Save and close pollstar100/example1/example1.csv
| · | Replace the corresponding pollstar100/example1/example1.csv file on your webserver by uploading the local copy that you have just amended.
| · | Make sure that the uploaded pollstar100/example1/example1.csv file has world write permissions.
| · | If your webserver does not support semaphores, make sure that the pollstar100/example1/ directory also has world write permissions.
| · | Refresh your web-browser. You should see that each item displayed in the UI now has no votes and no hits.
