The Specific Rating model provides a way of presenting the end-user with a discrete ratings scale for individual items of web-content. In this case, Sample Data items do not represent actual web-content. Instead, each item in the Sample Data set represents a specific rating in the discrete ratings scale. Such Sample Data sets are typically very small; comprising of, say, no more than five or ten items.

Pollstar100 Applications adopting the Specific Rating model tend to be context-free and so have a large degree of genericity. Once defined, they may be re-used for a wide range of purposes.

Some features of the Specific Rating method are as follows:

·End-users can use the Vote Controls to register their level of approval or disapproval for a selected piece of web-content.

·Vote related statistics for each discrete item in the ratings scale may be graphically displayed using the Votes Panel.

·The average rating calculated for all received votes across the entire ratings scale may be displayed using the Average Textbox.

·The total number of votes received across the entire ratings scale may be displayed using the Grand Total Textbox.
